Have you ever thought about how people, projects, jobs, clients are drawn to you? What types of behavior and attributes create that connection that draws people to you? I’ve been thinking, and I’ve taken a close look at professionals that I admire, and took an inventory of what has me attracted to them and their work. I’ve listed a few qualities and attributes that I think demonstrate a “magnetic professional”. I hope you see some value here for yourself.
Authenticity: Being real and truthful about who you are and what you have to offer. Others will respond positively to your honest demeanor and transparency. Drop the pretense, stop hiding and be who you are.
Confidence: Demonstrate your success, and share your successes through stories, anecdotes, and testimonials. No need to know everything about everything, but you can communicate that you will find a way to get things done. Confidence is an air, an attitude, and attribute for magnetism, and it comes from a string of successes.
Eloquence: Use words effectively when you speak, and use language of success. Magnetism depends not only on what you say, but how you say it. Your pacing, tone and facial expressions speak volumes. Reveal your genuine emotions through your voice. Practice, and request feedback.
Energy: People become enthusiastic when they around a high-energy individual. As a magnetic professional, you need to be on the move doing whatever is needed to propel your career forward. Don’t be content to allow things to happen, rather initiate actions to maintain forward movement. Energy creates more energy.
Inspirational: A magnetic professional attracts attention and inspires others easily to take action through their leadership.
Present: Listen attentively and be present with another person to increase your level of magnetism. People are naturally fond of those who take the time to hear their concerns, ambitions and ideas. Be willing to be noticed.
Optimistic: A positive outlook is very attractive to others. You can be magnetic if you simply determine to keep an optimistic mindset. Others will engage with you if they witness your “bright side” approach to even the most difficult of situations. Remember, “There’s always a way….”.
Humorous: Laugh about yourself and situations. Having a good sense of humor is a positive quality that attracts followers. You don’t have to be funny or witty per se, but you should be able to see the humor in life and business.
