I see it all. I hear it all. And there is one thing that frosts me. Ok, I’m going to share my sentiments about an important topic, and I hope you’ll listen, read, and take my comments under advisement. It’s so important for you to understand this. Though I don’t mean to be rash and somewhat harsh, I do want to grab your attention. Maybe I really want to give you a bop on the top of your head. Stop using “cutsie-poo jargon”. Stop using someone else’s coveted voice when sharing your elevator pitch. Stop using marketing words and descriptors that don’t really resonate with you. Just speak to your clients, colleagues, and potential clients, in language that resonates with them, and that is authentic to you. You don’t have to be like anyone else. You don’t need to pretend you are like someone else that you admire. You don’t need to change your voice, sound different than you do when you are engaged in a simple conversation. Just be you. People are going to buy you, not a pumped up version of yourself who is using words, language and terms that you basically just discovered. I know they say “imitation is the highest form of flattery”, but consumers are smart, and they can cut through the veil of pretense in a heartbeat. So, if this is striking a chord, maybe even giving you a stabbing pain in your gut, then there is some truth to what I’m urging you to do. Just be yourself. Do the work for yourself, and don’t copy the work that others have done for themselves. Be the best version of yourself. If you sell on pretense, fake energy and enthusiasm, while using a small and excited voice, then you have to keep up that pretense with your clients. Can you spell EXHAUSTION? I’m rooting for you, cheering you on, because I know you mean well. Don’t rip yourself off by pretending to use someone else’s marketing words, jargon, and being a fake version of yourself, just to appease yourself. People are smart, and they will suspect your ingenuine ways…..and they will keep away from you. You will be attracting skepticism, lack of trust, and buyers reluctance from people who might otherwise desire to work with you. Got it? Stop it. If you find yourself confused about my message, please reach out to me. My clients and colleagues often say the most brilliant things when no one is listening….other than me. I love highlighting their brilliance, and help them capture what they say authentically, truthfully, when no one is supposedly watching. I’m listening, and reflecting the brilliant words and messages that come out of your mouth. You’ve genuinely got it. Thanks for listening/reading. Why is that? I think I have some insight and I’d like to share my thoughts. From what I’ve learned over the many years that I’ve been leading and hosting networking events, people often say the same things. Ultimately, they unanimously share that they are trying to “survive” networking. For many, it occurs as a “should”, something we know we should do. However, we jump in willingly, but feel unprepared to know what to do after we say hello. Networking can be easy, or it can be challenging and difficult. With the proper training, coaching and support, it can be super fun and valuable. Without support and direction it can become a disaster, and leaves people feeling unsure of themselves, unclear of what to say or do while at the event or after. It can be expensive, time-consuming and often doesn’t net people the results they’d hoped for. What if it were easy? What if you had the knowledge and tools to be a “pro” at networking….at formal and informal events? What if you could network like a Rock Star, gain confidence, develop leadership and presence, and have others seek you out for connections and conversations? People have given me two fun names over the years: “The World’s Best Networking Coach” and “The Queen of Networking”. Well, I love people, and I’ve been well-trained. I’d love to pass this info on to you. Join me for “Networking Savvy: 30 Days to Connect and Grow” which launches on Friday, April 26th at 4 p.m. Yes, for only 30 days you will receive content, coaching, and connections…..a Big Win for those that participate. Click below to learn more and register, and invest a bit of time and money into your long-lasting career. In fact, right now, there are so many events happening in Atlanta and around the country that you just might get registered for all of them and reap the benefits that will come to you easily, if you just commit and show up. You may need an adventurous attitude, and a willingness to learn what’s trending in the marketplace today. It may mean digging into your checkbook, driving to an inconvenient part of town, or even flying to another city. Once you’re there, magic can happen. However, you must be prepared. You must be clear who you are, and be ready to give, share, connect and receive all of the great information that is shared by presenters and hosts. Go early, stay late, make a point to use the event for your advancement. I love sitting with new people and making new friends. I love hearing what people are up to, what cutting edge activities that make a difference in their business. Joining up with new friends for lunch and at breaks is invaluable! I can see my friends anytime, but I attend events to learn and meet and expand my network. Here are a few of the current events that I’m either leading or participating in. Join the fun! Be heard. Be known. Get hired. We all want that, right? I do. In the cluttered entrepreneurial marketplace, we must engage in activities that expand our presence so that potential clients may know, like, trust, and also hire us. Unless we are participating in strategic on-line and off-line activities, we are missing the boat, and missing real opportunities to connect with those that truly want to hear our personal message. According to Thesaurus.com, “Presence is the ability to project a sense of ease, poise, or self-assurance, especially the quality or manner of a person’s bearing before an audience.” Over the next few weeks I’ll be exploring and sharing about the concept of professional presence with you via social media and in-person events and conversations. I’m going to speak about the importance of expanding our presence, getting known, exploring new avenues and audiences, to that we can also expand our impact in the world. Our clients expect that of us, and we are really excited to do this. However, we often just don’t know where to begin or what to do first or next. We are a bit shy, timid, and sometimes we are downright scared. So, I ask you this. Where do you need to bump up your presence this year? Is it online, by sharing more Facebook “lives”, webinars, articles and postings shared on social media? Maybe an upgraded web presence? Or would it be in your best interest to show up at new networking events, attending workshops and conferences, and possibly leading your own events and speaking on other people’s stages? Though it may seem daunting, and you are not sure which way to go, or which way to turn, I invite you to join forces with professionals who can support you and speed up the process, and help you create the results you intend. You owe it to yourself. You are worth it, and this is the year to expand your presence, and be seen, heard and known. [/et_pb_text][/et_pb_column][/et_pb_row][/et_pb_section]

It’s one of the best things that I enjoy doing in my business. That is, putting on fun, spirited educational networking events for my tribe. Providing a showcase for talented businesswomen speaks to my Core Values: Contribution, Generosity, Collaboration, Fun, and Making a Difference. We have an abundant amount of talent in the Atlanta area, all kinds of women leaders that inspire us, teach us, guide us, and coach us. It’s pretty darn great. And I want to share a suggestion, a message that will help all Speakers, regardless of where you are located, as you plan out and book your calendars, so that you receive maximum visibility and optimal results from the engagements you book. Plan your locations, and be daring enough to step outside of your immediate geography. What I see happening over and over, is great speakers getting booked in the same communities, speaking to the same people in a very compressed period of time. Yes, it’s great to get booked. It’s great to share your message, and speak to gain influence and new business and clients. However, think from the perspective of the audience, the people you want to serve, and what inspires them to come out and see you. Like simple economics, the law of supply and demand, if you are everywhere with the same people, in the same short monthly timeframe, your message and presence is diluted. In fact, the opposite of what you want might occur. People may stay away, only because they just heard you, know that you are speaking next week at….and the next week at…and the next month at…..There is no excitement, or enthusiasm to make the trek or investment. When I schedule Speakers, I ultimately book WPDN Members first, as it is a perk and privilege, and we want our Members to grow and be seen. Then, we look elsewhere and work with those who have contacted us about getting in front of our audience. Sometimes I chase local Speakers who are just not available on Wednesdays for WPDN….but I’ll get them, soon, one way or another! 🙂 They create a strong pull and desire simply by their unavailability and illusive schedule. They are sought after and in high demand. Position yourself powerfully. Create your professional speaker marketing materials and book yourself out of town, and meet some new people! Visit another state, a region of a state, a fledgling professional association that is just coming on the scene. Put some time between local presentations, so the audience isn’t numb and deaf to wanting to hear your message. Many of the area organizations often will contact me and ask “Who can you recommend that is a GREAT Speaker!” I want to recommend YOU! Hope you found this message targeted, and know that it is given from my heart, as I want you to wildly succeed. My Stand is #WomenProsper! [/et_pb_text][/et_pb_column][/et_pb_row][/et_pb_section]

It may mean digging into your checkbook, driving to an inconvenient part of town, or even flying to another city. Once you’re there, magic can happen. However, you must be prepared. Events give you an opportunity to learn from the presenters, and that new knowledge can fuel your business growth. Set your intentions and participate with full abandon. Go early, stay late, make a point to use the event for your advancement. I love sitting with new people and making new friends. I love hearing what people are up to, what cutting-edge activities they are doing that make a difference in their business. Joining up with new friends for lunch and at breaks is invaluable! I can see my friends anytime, but I go to meet and expand my network. We never know where or how we can make a difference, or just what a simple act of kindness can do. I’ve listed a few benefits of attending events, so just set your intentions, and they inevitably come to pass: Add several new contacts to your list and community. Then, it’s up to you to nurture them over time. Find Speaking and Sponsorship opportunities. Referral partners, or JV Partnerships are possible. Get new clients. Get out of your home/office and immerse yourself in the event. Sell some products. Win a Door Prize or take full advantage of “freebies”. Ignite your passion and get excited about what’s possible as you grow your business. Select a City, take a look on the internet, ask your colleagues, and join up with a “Bring a Friend” program and get out and enjoy events! Events make money. And….so can you! Learn how you can become Networking Savvy today! [/et_pb_text][/et_pb_column][/et_pb_row][/et_pb_section]
Are you a Magnetic Professional?

[et_pb_section bb_built=”1″ admin_label=”section”][et_pb_row admin_label=”row” make_fullwidth=”off” use_custom_width=”off” width_unit=”on” use_custom_gutter=”off” custom_padding=”1px|||” allow_player_pause=”off” parallax=”off” parallax_method=”off” make_equal=”off” parallax_1=”off” parallax_method_1=”off”][et_pb_column type=”4_4″][et_pb_text admin_label=”Text” background_layout=”light” text_orientation=”left” use_border_color=”off” border_color=”#ffffff” border_style=”solid” custom_padding=”1px|||”] Have you ever thought about how people, projects, jobs, clients are drawn to you? What types of behavior and attributes create that connection that draws people to you? I’ve been thinking, and I’ve taken a close look at professionals that I admire, and took an inventory of what has me attracted to them and their work. I’ve listed a few qualities and attributes that I think demonstrate a “magnetic professional”. I hope you see some value here for yourself. Authenticity: Being real and truthful about who you are and what you have to offer. Others will respond positively to your honest demeanor and transparency. Drop the pretense, stop hiding and be who you are. Confidence: Demonstrate your success, and share your successes through stories, anecdotes, and testimonials. No need to know everything about everything, but you can communicate that you will find a way to get things done. Confidence is an air, an attitude, and attribute for magnetism, and it comes from a string of successes. Eloquence: Use words effectively when you speak, and use language of success. Magnetism depends not only on what you say, but how you say it. Your pacing, tone and facial expressions speak volumes. Reveal your genuine emotions through your voice. Practice, and request feedback. Energy: People become enthusiastic when they around a high-energy individual. As a magnetic professional, you need to be on the move doing whatever is needed to propel your career forward. Don’t be content to allow things to happen, rather initiate actions to maintain forward movement. Energy creates more energy. Inspirational: A magnetic professional attracts attention and inspires others easily to take action through their leadership. Present: Listen attentively and be present with another person to increase your level of magnetism. People are naturally fond of those who take the time to hear their concerns, ambitions and ideas. Be willing to be noticed. Optimistic: A positive outlook is very attractive to others. You can be magnetic if you simply determine to keep an optimistic mindset. Others will engage with you if they witness your “bright side” approach to even the most difficult of situations. Remember, “There’s always a way….”. Humorous: Laugh about yourself and situations. Having a good sense of humor is a positive quality that attracts followers. You don’t have to be funny or witty per se, but you should be able to see the humor in life and business.
