I’ve been feeling listless, uninspired, ho hum, disconnected, and stopped. I’ve been singing the song “Is that all there is….?” This is just not like me, right? But, nevertheless, that’s how I’ve been feeling for the past few weeks. Can anyone relate? Burnout, you ask? Maybe. I’ve owned my business since 1981, though many of those years were on a part-time basis. That’s a long time, and it’s  much longer than most of you reading this. In fact, it has not been ok with me that I’ve felt uninspired, uncommitted and stopped, so I started sharing and having conversations with trusted friends, people who are trained in the distinctions of transformation. These disempowering thoughts would persist if I remained quiet, and in monologue, and I’m smart enough to know that conversations, and getting into dialogue will make a difference, and something will move for me. For the past month, I gave myself the grace and space to feel however I felt.  And I realized that I’ve been in a stress response, so I took action and focused on self-care, reflection, and play. The vast majority of my life is given for others: WPDN, coaching, hosting events, planning retreats, leading programs, and lots of sharing and connecting. I actually love that. But, I needed to put the focus on myself, to refill my cup, honor my soul, and replenish my spirit. I’ll share what actions I’ve taken, hoping that you might be inspired to take similar actions for yourself. Maybe you need a reboot, too?  So far this month, I have: enjoyed a week-long trip to MA for a great change of scenery. lost 10 lbs., and feel a zillion % better! enjoyed the arts: seeing movies, visiting galleries, and digging PBS. scheduled an astrology reading to learn how the stars may guide my direction. napped, played with angel cards, journals and zentangle. prayed and meditated and enjoyed silence. enjoyed swimming, and walking. played with friends. planned an exciting itinerary for my annual trip to Italy. So…I’m baaack! I’ll soon be sharing some new ways of serving you. It is said that “the only way to, is through”, and I’m excited that I took this month to reset, and I look forward to reinventing and sharing the best parts of my business offerings with you. Does this term conjure up images of doing jumping jacks in place, or dancing wildly to “The Stones”, or going out for a morning jog? What if I said, “none of the above”? What if you didn’t need to do anything? What if the answer is not in the “doing”? I’ve learned that starting my day with a few minutes of silence, is a great way to gather and harness the energy required to have an amazing day. Yes, silence just might be a simple, no-cost activity that you can employ to rev up your daily success. When in silence, whether you are sitting quietly, or in meditation, you allow yourself to enter into a space of receptivity. In this sacred space, you give yourself the gift of listening, thinking, and hearing messages and creative downloads that pop in for each of us to consider. And if we are frantically running in “doing” energy, it can often get so noisy that we are not at all a conduit for what a few moments in silence can bring. Here’s a simple “game” that can shake up your “normal daily routine”. Try it out for seven days in a row, and see if you begin to notice changes in being, doing or having. Here’s how to play: Select a minimum of 15 minutes in the morning upon waking and rolling out of bed to sit in silence. Use your phone alarm to remind you and time you. Sit comfortably, eyes open or closed. Just be. No music. No external sound. No writing. Just be…for 15 min. Notice any thoughts and images dancing around in your mind. Your mind will continue to do its thing. Remain silent until your timer or alarm sounds. Grab your journal and write down anything that you want to capture from the exercise. Acknowledge yourself with gratitude for stepping into a sacred space in service to yourself and others. Rinse and Repeat. Just be. Ahhhhhh. Rev yourself up with a few moments of silence. As you begin to tackle your day, your meetings, client sessions, sales conversations may just occur with a greater sense of ease and presence and better results. Accentuate The Positive. Eliminate The Negative

[et_pb_section bb_built=”1″ admin_label=”section”][et_pb_row admin_label=”row” make_fullwidth=”off” use_custom_width=”off” width_unit=”on” use_custom_gutter=”off” custom_padding=”1px|||” allow_player_pause=”off” parallax=”off” parallax_method=”off” make_equal=”off” parallax_1=”off” parallax_method_1=”off”][et_pb_column type=”4_4″][et_pb_text use_border_color=”off” border_color=”#ffffff” border_style=”solid” custom_padding=”1px|||” _builder_version=”3.7.1″] Do you ever get down on yourself? Do you have creepy thoughts that say you are not good enough, and everyone out there is better than you? Is Negative Nelly occupying too much space in your brain, eroding your confidence and shrouding you in a veil of self-doubt? I have days like that. Yes, I really do. However, I’ve learned to stop them in their tracks, before I enter into the Danger Zone of No Return. The antidote to negativity is positivity, right? Yes. Negative thoughts will weigh you down, and positive thoughts will raise you up. They each have different vibrations, and one is much heavier than the other. If left alone, negative thoughts will be much harder to counteract . If you intention is to raise yourself up, then you must flood the brain with positive self-talk, even though you may not fully believe it….yet. Take a moment, (right now would be a good time for this), and start making a list of all your positive qualities. I’m charming, kind, compassionate, talented…..You get the picture. If you get stuck, then make them up, and simply own those words as if they were your own. Claim them, and know that they live inside of you, or you wouldn’t even have thought of them. Next, call a friend, and ask them to take 10 minutes with you, and share all of the positive qualities that they see in you. This is what I specifically ask my friends: “Tell me 10 things you love about me, and why I’m so fantastic.” The healing powers of such an exercise will surely out-weigh the negative thoughts that seep into our consciousness from time to time. It’s like drinking an elixir of delicious love. We all need love in order to grow and thrive. Just for fun, I invite you to click the link and listen to this old song…tried and true, a catchy melody, sung through the years by a stellar list of performers. Today I bring you Sir Paul McCartney….enjoy. Tap your feet and sing along and make it an amazing, powerful and positive day! https://youtu.be/cwp-IvX8VM8 [/et_pb_text][/et_pb_column][/et_pb_row][/et_pb_section]

Spring Cleaning for Entrepreneurs: Seven Tips to Free the Chi

[et_pb_section bb_built=”1″ admin_label=”section”][et_pb_row admin_label=”row” make_fullwidth=”off” use_custom_width=”off” width_unit=”on” use_custom_gutter=”off” custom_padding=”1px|||” allow_player_pause=”off” parallax=”off” parallax_method=”off” make_equal=”off” parallax_1=”off” parallax_method_1=”off”][et_pb_column type=”4_4″][et_pb_text background_layout=”light” use_border_color=”off” border_color=”#ffffff” border_style=”solid” custom_padding=”1px|||” _builder_version=”3.0.106″] Spring is here! And it is a time of renewal, new growth, new buds, blossoms and vibrancy! It’s an exciting time of year, and I just love the Spring! I feel energized, hopeful, shed my coats and heavy sweaters, and generally “lighten up”! Many of us do Spring Cleaning in our homes, freshen things up, put heavy things away. And I was thinking about doing a Spring Cleaning for my business. It would have to be a good thing, right? So, I’ve been thinking, and I came up with some useful tips to share with you. Conduct your own personal business audit – Schedule time to review what is working in your business, and what is not. Revisit your intentions and goals for the year, and fine-tune them. Things may have changed and updates are warranted. Give yourself a gift and do that. Let Go! – Give yourself permission to let go of old business / work materials that are taking up space. Recently I tossed out a huge fabulous stack of overhead transparencies that I used to regularly use in my former business life. Yes, ….overhead transparencies. Do they even make those projectors anymore? Say good bye to books, notebooks, old journals, and “shelf-ware” that is taking up valuable space in your office. Free the Chi! Clean Your Office – Dust the baseboards, the shelving, your desk, the phones, printer, and nic nacs.  Add a new plant to symbolize new growth! I recently removed old furniture, painted the walls, received a new desk, and my space is lighter, brighter, and welcoming. I like the way it feels! Purge Your Old Emails – Oh, this one is good for me. I’m not one of those who have a zero inbox, but I can commit to deleting chunks of old ones that just are taking up space in my life and brain. It’s freeing, don’t you think? Refresh Your LinkedIN Profile – Jazz it up! New head shot, updated profile, some current testimonials, maybe? Delete Facebook “Friends” – In the beginning, it’s fun to have a lot of friends. However, it’s useful to clean up the list of friends, and delete ones who you really have nothing in common with, and reach out and connect to people who do share commonalities. Out With the Old – Give each of your social media pages a face-lift, including your web site. What can you add or subtract that would refresh, invigorate and bring it new life? Add a video, remove a video, edit your Bio? Freeing up energy, giving our office and business a sparkle alters a set energy pattern. Molecules reorganize, and begin to take on new life. Possibilities arise where once there was dust and tangled cords. I wish all of you an incredibly happy Spring, and that new shoots of green growth, buds of happiness and vivid blooms of success appear like magic.   Happy Spring!  [/et_pb_text][/et_pb_column][/et_pb_row][/et_pb_section]

Get Away From It All… Recharging Your Batteries

[et_pb_section bb_built=”1″ admin_label=”section”][et_pb_row admin_label=”row” make_fullwidth=”off” use_custom_width=”off” width_unit=”on” use_custom_gutter=”off” custom_padding=”1px|||” allow_player_pause=”off” parallax=”off” parallax_method=”off” make_equal=”off” parallax_1=”off” parallax_method_1=”off”][et_pb_column type=”4_4″][et_pb_text background_layout=”light” use_border_color=”off” border_color=”#ffffff” border_style=”solid” custom_padding=”1px|||” _builder_version=”3.0.87″] Happy October! Are you ready to make your fourth quarter in business the best ever? I am. Back from my annual trip to Tuscany, I have recharged, and renewed my spirit, and I’m poised to finish this year big! That’s what my vacation does for me, and I wanted to share about vacations, and the impact they can have on your bottom line. Each year when I get my new calendar pages for the upcoming year, I mark off my vacation days, before I schedule anything else. “Me time” has become quite precious. And I have learned what taking a great vacation adventure provides for me: body, mind, soul and business. I’m always amazed at how frantically I work to get everything complete before I head out for two weeks. That final preparation week is exhausting! Yet, once I leave the house, turn off my laptop, and head toward the airport, I begin to breathe a little deeper, and the adrenaline of excitement begins to flow and the anticipation mounts. I know that we take really good of our clients, and for many of us our families, too. Yet, are you someone who puts the spotlight of rest, relaxation and rejuvenation on yourself? Do you actually know how a good vacation can benefit you? Allow me to share what happens for me. *I love the feeling of being unplugged and far away. I rely less on technology, and more on my five senses. Life seems to slow down, and I notice more. *Waking up to new sights daily gives me a new perspective, a fresh point of view on life. *Walking, walking and more walking clears my mind, relaxes my body, and helps me burn all the yummies I indulge while exploring new ways of eating. *Enjoying the company of travel buddies adds to the fun, as we explore, marvel, and ooh and ahh, all the way through our excursions. *Dinnertime conversations lend themselves to sharing of “self”, not necessarily sharing about business. Rather hearing what others experienced as they climbed a tower, walked through vineyard and olive groves, and felt the glow of the Tuscan sun. *Filling up the days with museums, churches, and unique points of interest provides a chain of magical encounters that simply are not present in our everyday surroundings. I take in more, notice more, and often stand in wonder. Creativity is sparked and heightened. *New opportunities arise, born out of the experience, and provides new excitement and energy that gains my focus upon my return. *My molecules are reorganized, and resting up from my vacation gives me the opportunity to settle into what I create next. So, put the oxygen mask on yourself first! Schedule a true vacation. Make it happen. It’s a great reward for the hard work you devote all year. I’ve already planned next year’s big vacation, in Tuscany. And, I invite you to join me! “Living la Dolce Vita in Tuscany” will be September 22 – 29, 2018, and will be my 10th trip bringing other great professionals along with me. Let this be your year. Make it up, and make it happen! Andiamo! [/et_pb_text][/et_pb_column][/et_pb_row][/et_pb_section][et_pb_section bb_built=”1″][et_pb_row][/et_pb_row][/et_pb_section]
