Happy October! Are you ready to make your fourth quarter in business the best ever? I am. Back from my annual trip to Tuscany, I have recharged, and renewed my spirit, and I’m poised to finish this year big! That’s what my vacation does for me, and I wanted to share about vacations, and the impact they can have on your bottom line.

Each year when I get my new calendar pages for the upcoming year, I mark off my vacation days, before I schedule anything else. “Me time” has become quite precious. And I have learned what taking a great vacation adventure provides for me: body, mind, soul and business. I’m always amazed at how frantically I work to get everything complete before I head out for two weeks. That final preparation week is exhausting! Yet, once I leave the house, turn off my laptop, and head toward the airport, I begin to breathe a little deeper, and the adrenaline of excitement begins to flow and the anticipation mounts.

I know that we take really good of our clients, and for many of us our families, too. Yet, are you someone who puts the spotlight of rest, relaxation and rejuvenation on yourself? Do you actually know how a good vacation can benefit you? Allow me to share what happens for me.

*I love the feeling of being unplugged and far away. I rely less on technology, and more on my five senses. Life seems to slow down, and I notice more.

*Waking up to new sights daily gives me a new perspective, a fresh point of view on life.

*Walking, walking and more walking clears my mind, relaxes my body, and helps me burn all the yummies I indulge while exploring new ways of eating.

*Enjoying the company of travel buddies adds to the fun, as we explore, marvel, and ooh and ahh, all the way through our excursions.

*Dinnertime conversations lend themselves to sharing of “self”, not necessarily sharing about business. Rather hearing what others experienced as they climbed a tower, walked through vineyard and olive groves, and felt the glow of the Tuscan sun.

*Filling up the days with museums, churches, and unique points of interest provides a chain of magical encounters that simply are not present in our everyday surroundings. I take in more, notice more, and often stand in wonder. Creativity is sparked and heightened.

*New opportunities arise, born out of the experience, and provides new excitement and energy that gains my focus upon my return.

*My molecules are reorganized, and resting up from my vacation gives me the opportunity to settle into what I create next.

So, put the oxygen mask on yourself first! Schedule a true vacation. Make it happen. It’s a great reward for the hard work you devote all year. I’ve already planned next year’s big vacation, in Tuscany. And, I invite you to join me! “Living la Dolce Vita in Tuscany” will be September 22 – 29, 2018, and will be my 10th trip bringing other great professionals along with me. Let this be your year. Make it up, and make it happen! Andiamo!
